Launched in 2019, the SSMC was a huge success bringing the best artists of Australia & overseas together, all under one roof.

In 2024, we bring you MORE awesome International artists, more amazing National artists, more world class Workshops, quality Performances, Salsa bands, DJ’s & parties. SSMC 2024 will again highlight Australia’s wealth of talent complimented by 5 AMAZING International artists.

We are very privileged to have so much amazing talent right here in Australia & we are excited to be able to gather them together at the amazing Roundhouse, a world-class venue in the heart of Sydney.

Enjoy a 3 day & night weekend of world class workshops, amazing parties, spectacular shows, & HOURS & HOURS of social dancing. Remember this year 2 of the evenings will include Live Salsa Concerts from Sydney’s finest Salsa Bands with Saturday evening featuring the one and only Tito Puente Jnr. Tito Puente, Jr. is a bandleader, percussionist, songwriter and producer who comes from Latin music royalty – his father, Tito Puente, is known as “El Rey de los Timbales” (The King of the Timbales) and “The King of Latin Music.”

Tito Puente, Jr. has taken on the mantle, continuing to share joy and passion through a high-voltage fusion of jazz, Latin, salsa, merengue and mambo that electrifies audiences wherever it is heard.

FRANKIE MARTINEZ

*** SALSA LEGEND *** Frankie Martinez is widely regarded as one of the most innovative and progressive Latin dancers of his generation. His exploration into the Afro-Caribbean roots of performance art, as well as the choreographic possibilities native to Latin/Afro-Latin dance, positions him as one of the foremost authorities in the genre.

In 2000, Frankie established the Abakuá Afro-Latin Dance Company. Within months of its inception, Abakuá gained notoriety within the Latin dance community and, ultimately, the performing arts community at large.

To date, Frankie Martinez and Abakuá have performed and taught in over 50 cities and over 20 countries worldwide. They have produced full-length, concert dance productions in New York City and have performed at prestigious venues such as Madison Square Garden, Roseland Ballroom, Lincoln Centre, Aaron Davis Hall, Jacob’s Pillow and Summer Stage

Renowned for his work as a dancer, choreographer, and educator, Frankie continues to dedicate himself towards the elevation of Afro-Latin dance and to its recognition as a legitimate art form.
