About
Built in 1924, this venue is wow-worthy, brimming with old-world charm and a sense of grandeur. With its epic eight-metre-high ceilings, arched French windows, heritage wood panelling and polished timber floors, it’s a one-of-a-kind space.
The real star is the wall-to-wall mural expanding the entire length of the room, it’s a unique talking point. The majestic built-in wooden cabinet provides a beautiful platform to enhance the venue styling. The scale and finish of this venue are detailed enough to speak for itself.
Adjoining The Refectory is a Mediterranean-style terrace which flows to the idyllic Cottage Lawns, bringing an abundance of natural light and air.
This most graceful venue was hand picked by the SSMC team to host the Australian Selections as we felt such an auspicious national competition deserves the elegance that this building and surrounding grounds holds.
If you are competing or coming to support your friends or family, you will find the Refectory a beautiful space to be in.
Food & Drinks
A large modern café sits to the side of the entrance to the building which has a fine selection of drinks, breakfast and lunch ranging, from sandwiches and wraps to hot freshly prepared food from their diverse menu.
Transport
A short 5 min walk through the stunning grounds of the Uni of Sydney will take you to Broadway Shopping Centre & Parramatta Rd, where there is an abundance of cafés, restaurants and public transport to the Sydney CBD and Central Station.
Parking
Most streets within the USYD grounds and surroundings areas are paid. Arundel St in Glebe offers all day free parking, however, with limited spots.
Getting here
If you find yourself lost within the USYD grounds, an easy way to find the Refectory is to look for Host Co Café or Holme Building on Google Maps. The Refectory is just adjacent.
